How many FPS expected?
In my current desktop which has integrated graphics etc I get around 8-15 FPS depending on what im doing and it pretty much sucks.
I just bought a laptop with the following specs, how much FPS should I expect from this thing?

14.1 inch Wide Screen XGA+ LCD Display with TrueLife™
3GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz, 2 DIMM
128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS
160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
8X CD/DVD Burner w/ double-layer DVD+R write capability
85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery

Anderson, SC 3GB of RAM is overkill...
Depending on settings, 30-60 out grinding, maybe 10-20 in raids?

That's what the guy with 512MB used to say about my 4GB until people pointed out to him that we were all back to the Prince and waiting for him by the time he was done loading the game after releasing from the last wipe.

I used to play with 700 something my god the city's made me cry and so pissed when I would lag like a mother.
Have 1.5 GB now. In IF I got 40FPS or above shatt is like 15 or above and I can slow down a bit if allot if going on in battle. No idea about raids really I've done like 2 of them can't remember what I was getting then.

I have 2gb, and I think it is enough. I was doing a photomerge in photoshop and playing wow / on vent without a problem, which is enough for me.

AFAIK you cannot run 2 sticks in dual channel (except with nforce2 chipset, and it wasn't TRUE dual channel) and 1 slower stick not in dual channel with those two, not to mention all of your ram should be running at the slowest speed. But then again I don't know much about Intel chipsets, just read up on AMD boards and nforce chipsets.

I think you are right. I need to edit that. I used to only have 1GB in dual channel mode. I recently added the other 2GB of PC6400. They are all running at the slower speed, but the added RAM immensely increased by lag performance in WoW, especially in big cities.

i have 60fps most times.. down to 40 at the lowest in cities sometimes.
where can i get a good explanation of dual channel ram? I have 2 1gb sticks, and 4 slots. 2 and 2. both sets are different colors, and i though if i used slot 1 from each set it'd be dual channel... i could be WAY WAY off..

Here's my build (what matters anyway), which gives me steady 60 fps (vert sync, why waste FPS?) anywhere I go. I don't remember ever seeing it drop below 60 for more than a second or two, with every single setting maxed out:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400.
4GB (4x1GB, all matched 5-5-5-12 PC6400 DDR2) in dual channel.
Nvidia 8800GTS 320MB (running the game on a 1680x1050 wide screen monitor with a 1280x1024 secondary monitor on at all times).
2x 250GB WD 7,200rpm SATA II 16MB HDD, in Raid0.
Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
What's lag?

In Azeroth with little people around, I've pushed 150 fps.
In Shattrath, i get 20fps.
In Raids, I drop to 8fps.
Brutal.

Ram, CPU power and a fast HDD are king in WoW as the game doesnt really fully use powerfull video cards. now sure an 8800GTX wouldnt hurt but it wont give the same performace changes as a dual core CPU and a 2gb of ram(which is probally cheaper)
